A native of Detroit, MI and known and as “The Prophet of the City”, Bishop Eric Mitchell is the Founder and Pastor of Greater Emmanuel Temple of Deliverance “The Church in Zion” established             January 26, 1996. Bishop Mitchell confirms the weekly affirmation which states, “We are committed to life changing ministry that touches the total man, ministers to mankind, and makes mankind whole, Lord, teach us to be soul winners, empower us to be achievers that we may accomplish all our goals and be instrumental in the rebuilding of your kingdom.”

He is the organizer and CEO of Emmanuel Community House Outreach (ECHO), an outreach program that services the community. ECHO is geared towards the advancement of education, self-esteem and developing the community while offering free tutoring, mentoring, free apparel, burial assistance, college scholarships, as well as a weekly food bank that is partnered with Forgotten Harvest.

Bishop Mitchell was educated in Detroit Public School Systems and went on to further his education at Wayne State University. He is a proud graduate of Tennessee School of Religion receiving a Bachelor’s of Theology and a Masters of Theology; he also graduated Summa Cum Laude from Minnesota Graduate School of Theology receiving a Bachelors of Art and Masters of Art, and currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Pastoral Studies. Bishop Mitchell works diligently with the Wayne County Sheriff Department as Chaplin under the leadership of Sheriff Benny Napoleon, as well as an Educator and boys Mentor at Thirkell Elementary School.

Bishop Mitchell is committed to equipping the saints with the spiritual knowledge needed to maintain a healthy relationship with Christ. He has now accepted the holy “Office of Bishop” and is the overseer of Zion Ministries International headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. The work of the Ministry and leading people into deliverance is Bishop Mitchell’s heart’s desire.

He has been a loving and dedicated husband and father for over 22 years. Bishop Mitchell is a man that loves the Lord and loves God’s people, and has always demonstrated that through the Preached Word. This passion has allowed Bishop Mitchell to preach across the nation proclaiming that “Jesus Is the Light of the World” and why be in darkness when Jesus is the Light.
